A Visit to Naples, Italy

During New Years of 2006 I had the opportunity to visit Naples Italy.

Initially I heard that Naples was a dirty city. When I walked off the ship, I found some litter and graffiti but looking beyond the clutter, the city had an abundance of beautiful architecture around every corner. Not to mention, the wonderful local food and cappuccino that will never be forgotten.

I would recommend walking the city if you plan to visit. There are many small shops worth visiting that would be missed by driving.

This image was taken from the top of Castel Sant’Elmo, located on top of a tall hill overlooking Naples.

In the background is Mount Vesuvius, the volcano that destroyed the city of Pompeii in 79 AD
